Have you ever thought about the teamwork that goes into shipping cargo from one country, such as India, to another, for example, Poland?
While it may seem like a straightforward process, the reality is that a multitude of professionals play vital roles at every stage of the journey. From logistics coordinators and customs agents to warehouse staff and transportation providers, each person contributes their expertise to ensure that goods are delivered efficiently and safely.
In this article, based on our experience as a logistics company, we will break down the key components, explore the various roles involved in international shipping, the complexities of global trade, and how many people are typically needed to move cargo across borders.
For a transportation to even start we, of course, need a shipper/supplier. They are the entity or individual responsible for preparing the goods for shipment. Typically they also involve warehouse staff for packing, quality control personnel, and administrative staff for documentation.
Then go freight forwarders, such as AF TRANS, who act as an intermediary between the shipper and transportation services. Our team of logistics coordinators and customs specialists work tirelessly to handle documentation, booking cargo space, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
After all documents being processed, route agreed and vehicles found the carrier steps into the game. They are the company responsible for transporting the cargo (ocean freight, air freight, etc.). Includes ship crew, logistics coordinators, and port operations staff. We have an extensive list of trusted partners, each carefully sellected for their expertise, relability and commitment to excellence.
Upon arrival of the cargo port authorities manage the loading and unloading of cargo at ports. They are dock workers, crane operators, and administrative staff for port operations.
And the last piece of the process is a receiving party or consignee, the individual or company receiving the shipment. This icludes warehouse staff for unloading and inventory management, plus administrative personnel for customs clearance on arrival.
While the number of people involved can vary significantly based on the size of the shipment and specific logistics providers, a rough estimate might be from 24 to 41 people, but everything is, of course, individual.
Each stakeholder plays a critical role in ensuring that the shipment is processed efficiently, complies with regulations, and reaches its destination on time. As logistics continues to evolve with technology, we may see shifts in personnel requirements, but the fundamental need for coordination among various parties will remain constant.
